Could anyone refresh my memory from the novel on what happened at the end of this episode, how the medicines suddenly came out and heal Xiao Yan's body?

In the novel the heat and flame caused Xiao Yan's rings to be destroyed (the low quality ones, only Yao Lao's ring managed to survive) and all the pills and herbs blended together and was refined into a puddle of medicine, it was absorbed by Xiao Yan and helped him heal and strengthened him

The start of this Donghwa was not that good. it started getting good in season 2 and season 3, but as they kept prolonging the story and increasing the number of female leads, the story is losing its worth.

cant believe im saying this but what a horrible episode... what a let down after last week..... a complete nothing burger where the only development was the half a month inside the belly of the beast we didnt see..... the worst ep of the entire show I think.... you know when you have a bad ep when you can skip an ep one week and not realize you missed it the following week.... thats how i feel about this ep... the only reason i would know i missed something is because medusa would be out already..... and i am disappointed that they used teacher falls into slumber again... hope it aint years and a hard struggle for him to revive again..... if i want to see that ill just rewatch it when it gave the feels....
